BURN CD & DVD IMAGES (ISO FILES) FROM COMMAND PROMPT

Windows 7 includes a free image burning utility called the Windows Disc Image Burner that allows you to quickly write CD and DVD images.

The utility has a graphical interface but can be run from the command prompt
To start burning a CD or DVD ISO file immediately from command prompt, follow the simple steps:

isoburn /q drive:\file.iso

For example:

isoburn /q d:\data.iso

or, you can pass only the ISO file location and click the Burn button within the utility.

Remote Shutdown - Windows Computers in Lan

This tutorial is designed to teach you how to remotely shutdown a Windows computer on a Local Area Network. I have not been able to test this on wireless and successfully do it, but it will work on computers connected to a LAN. Well here is how to do it.

1.Open Command Prompt on the computer you wish to shutdown from. Press Win + R and type in cmd or command.

2.Type in ipconfig on the computer you wish to shut down. If you know the IP address of the computer you wish to shutdown go to Step 4.

3.Get the IP address from the computer.

4.Go to the computer you wish to shutdown from.

5.Type in the following command.

shutdown -m \\IP HERE -t TIME IN SECONDS HERE -c MESSAGE HERE -s

If you see a box on the computer you wish to shutdown you did it successfully.

To abort simply type in:

shutdown -m \\IP HERE -a

Congrats on remotely shutting down your computer.

Error Reporting in XP

If error reporting in XP is bugging you then turn it off.

When a system error occurs in XP, a little dialog box appears asking if you want to report the error to Microsoft. Click the message box to make it disappear.

To disable error reporting, follow these directions:

1. Right-click My Computer and choose Properties.
2. Click the Advanced tab on your System Properties dialog box.
3. Click the Error Reporting button on the Advanced tab.
4. Place a checkmark next to "Disable error reporting."
5. Leave the other radio button unchecked next to the text labeled, "But notify me when critical errors occur."

I m here to tell u a trick to add up your name in place of AM and PM beside time and make urself to feel proud among your group of friends.
Its simple

Start -> Control Pannel -> Regional and Language option -> Customize (beside English US) -> Go to TIME tab -> Change AM symbol and PM symbol from AM and PM to ur name -> Apply -> Ok ...
IS it changed ??? Might be not ...Now go to time in taskbar and Double Click it to open "Date and time property" ...Look place where time changes in digital form i.e. 02:47:52 AM , click to arrow to cnage the AM or PM by selecting and press arrow. It will Show ur name or name that was entered by u, Apply -> OK and be HAPPY 8)

Remove Thumb.db file

Thumb.db is is a cache of the current picture in that directory.to remove it go for following

step1 > open "WINDOWS EXPLORER".
      2> go to "TOOLS".
      3> open "FOLDER OPTIONS".
      4> go to "VIEW".
     5>   see 1st section "FILES & FOLDERS".
     6>   click on the "DO NOT CACHE THUMBNAILS".

now the thumbnail file will be removed from ur computer once u do this the file will be never created.

These logs can be reviewed and archived.

Look for a date and time when you weren't home and your computer should have been off.

Install Windows XP in Less than 15 Minutes

Windows XP operating system is most popular operating system and frequently installed . Normally OS installation takes around 40 minutes to complete, but by using this trick you can now save 10-15 minutes.

1. Boot through Windows XP CD.

2. When all the files are completely loaded, choose option to select the partition. Select “c”.Where ever you want to install your windows.

3. Now Format the partition, whether it is normal or quick with NTFS or FAT.

4. Once the formatting is completed, All the setup files required for installation are copied. Restart your system by pressing Enter.
Now, here begins the Simple trick to save 10-15 minutes.

5. After rebooting, you get a screen which shows 40 minutes to complete OS installation.

6. Now, Press SHIFT + F10 Key -> This opens command prompt.

7. Enter “Taskmgr” at the command prompt window. This will open Task Manager.

8. Click the Process Tab, here we find a process called Setup.exe -> Right Click on Setup.exe -> Set Priority -> Select High or Above Normal. Initially it will be Normal.

Thats it, no more work to do. Relax your self and see how fast the installation process completes.

Command Prompt on Right-Click

Follow this steps to get command prompt on your right click..

Start > Run
Enter "regedit" and hit Enter
Expand to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Folder\shell"
Right-click on "shell" and select New > Key
Make sure a new key is created under "shell". Change the name of this key to "Command Prompt"
Right-click on this new key "Command Prompt" and select New > Key
Change the name of this key to "command"
Here's what we should have:
Double-click on the "(Default)" text on the right window to bring up the edit box
Enter this text into the Value Data field:
cmd.exe "%1"
Click OK and close the registry.

Hide Files or Folders Using Command Prompt

You hide your files in your system no buddy can see that file.....

Press windowkey+R: Run command dialog box appears.
Now type "cmd" and hit enter. A command prompt window displays.
Now type "attrib +s +h <Address Bar of your computer>" and hit enter.
Example:-"atrrid +s +h D:\kvr" like this..
The folder "kvr folder" will be hidden (Note: It cannot be viewed by any search options)
If you want that folder reback then type this command "attrib -s -h <Address Bar of your computer>" and hit enter.
Example:-"attrid -s -h D:\kvr" like this..

(To view this folder again, use the same command but replace '+' with '-' on both flags 's' and 'h')

Create Ghost Bootable SD Card or USB Flash Drive

The good news: Almost every recent laptop/netbook comes with a card reader, and even if you wasn't lucky enough, your laptop/netbook should have a USB port!

This guide will tell you how to create a bootable SD card or a USB flash drive with Symantec Norton Ghost.
This task can be done with several different versions of Symantec Ghost; however, the steps from this articles are based on Symantec Ghost 14.

What you need?

Symantec Ghost 14 bootable CD. (Some other versions might also work)
A PC with bootable CD/DVD drive.
An SD card (either SD or SDHC), or a USB thumb drive. The size can be as minimum as 1 GB. You can also pick a large SD card if you want to store your hard drive image to the card as well.
An SD slot or a card reader (for SD card) or a USB slot (for thumb drive)

Use the following steps

First, check to make sure your CD/DVD drive is bootable. (See your BIOS manual or PC user guide for details since this is out of the scope of this article).
- For SD card: Make sure the SD slot or the card reader is available. if it's a card reader, connect it to the PC. Also insert the card.
- For USB thumb drive: Make sure the drive is inserted into one of the USB slots.
Bootup the computer using the Symantec Ghost CD (Details vary on different computers). On Windows XP, during the startup, you should see the prompt "Press any key to boot from CD...".
Once the Symantec Recovery startup is complete, you should see the main screen of Symantec Ghost 14 Recovery similar to this image:

5. Select "Analyze" from the left menu.

Then click on "Open Command Shell Window". A command prompt window will display.
At this command prompt window, type: "diskpart" (one word, without quotes) and hit enter. The prompt now changed to "DISKPART>"
Now type "list disk" and hit enter. You should now see a list of all available disks. Base on the size of each disk listed, find the one that matching your SD card (or thumb drive) and note its disk number under "Disk ###". If you don't see your SD card (or flash drive) listed, verify if it is inserted or plugged in (you might need to restart the computer and try again).
Type "select disk <n>" (replace <n> with the disk # noted from the previous step) then hit enter.
Important!! Besure to select the correct disk (your SD card or thumb drive) as you will be erasing the drive.

Create a primary partition for the the disk by executing the following sequence of commands:
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
Set the primary partition active, type: "active" and hit enter
Perform a quick format with the following command:
format fs=fat32 quick
Then type:
assign
exit
Your SD card (or the flash drive) is now bootable and will act similar to a local hard drive. In order to boot this card with Symantect Ghost Recovery, copy all contents from the Symantec Ghost disc to the SD card (or the flash drive). Besure to copy everything including any hidden files/folders.

The SD card or flash drive is now bootable and will boot your laptop/netbook to Symantec Ghost Recovery utilities exactly the same way as of the CD (To boot with the card on your laptop/netbook, don't forget to set your bios to search for the SD card or USB external devices in the boot sequence).
